The French and Indian war was the first colonial war. It was between the English and the French.They battled for colonial domination in North America,the Caribbean, and India. In this website we are going to focus in on the North American war and its aftermath.
Introduction to the Proclamation of 1763
The Proclomation of 1763 closed off the frontier to colonial expansion. The KIng and his council presented the proclamation as a measure to calm the fears of the Indians,who believed that the colonists would drive them out of their land. Although the King meant well the colonists thought that the objective was to contain them along the Atlantic coast, where they would be easier to control.
